The H. R. Haldeman Diaries consists of seven handwritten diaries, 36 dictated diaries recorded as sound recordings, and two handwritten audio cassette tape subject logs. The diaries and logs reflect H. R. Haldeman’s candid personal record and reflections on events, issues, and people encountered during his service in the Nixon White House. As administrative assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, Haldeman attended and participated in public events and private meetings covering the entire scope of issues in which the Nixon White House engaged in during the years 1969-1973. 247. Memorandum From Harold Saunders of the National Security Council Staff to the President’s Deputy Assistant for National Security Affairs (Haig), Washington, April 13, 1972
With the President’s Assistant for National Security Affairs Kissinger’s approval, Haig authorized a presentation to Congress on economic assistance for South Asia for the fiscal year that called for $90 million for India, $75 million for Pakistan, and $135 million in an unallocated reserve.

Kissinger’s handwritten comment on the first page of the attached memorandum reads: “There is no chance of giving $200 million to India.” There is a note in the margin of that document in a hand that is apparently Saunders’ that reads: “75–75.” Haig wrote “OK” on the Use 90/75 option, and added: “Hal I’ve checked W/ HAK.” Saunders noted on the memorandum that he notified AID and OMB on April 13 of the revised decision.
