    President's Office Files

    The President's Office Files consists of materials drawn together by the Special Files Unit from several administrative subdivisions within the White House Office. It is the handwriting and sensitive papers sent to the Staff Secretary that now comprise much of the President's Office Files. Visit the finding aid to learn more.

The meeting took place in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. All ellipses are in the original. Kissinger visited China November 10–14 to provide reassurance about the prospect for improved U.S.–PRC relations despite the stresses produced by the Cambodian war, Watergate, and U.S.-Soviet détente.     • 97. Telegram 12831 From the Embassy in Ethiopia to the Department of State, Addis Ababa, November 10, 1973, 0801Z

      Ambassador Adair reported that Assistant Secretary of State Newsom did not inform Haile Selassie of Kissinger’s recommendation to the President that the United States provide Sidewinders to Ethiopia. Adair, with Newsom’s concurrence, urged that the recommendation go forward.
