The Swords of President Dwight D. Eisenhower

Temporary Exhibit

Installation of swords owned by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in museum case

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is delighted to announce the temporary addition of two remarkable swords that belonged to President Dwight D. Eisenhower: his West Point Officer’s Saber and the Sword of Honor.

These historic objects, currently on exhibit in the Life in the White House gallery, are on loan from Julie Nixon Eisenhower.

Featured Artifacts:

West Point Officer’s Saber
Dwight D. Eisenhower, a West Point graduate of the class of 1915, carried a ceremonial Model 1902 Army Officer's Saber. This saber symbolizes the unity of the states and reflects Eisenhower’s transformation in service to the nation. A dedicated West Point Scabbard, engraved with the initials and birth year of his grandson, Dwight David Eisenhower II, accompanies the saber.

Sword of Honor
Awarded for his pivotal role as Supreme Commander during World War II, the Sword of Honor signifies the unity between the United States and the United Kingdom. Crafted by Wilkinson Sword, it features Eisenhower’s titles and honors, and is treasured as a family heirloom.

These artifacts and contemporary images of Eisenhower will be displayed from August 26, 2025, to October 28, 2025.
