A New Program to Explore Our Artifacts and the Work We Do

History Up Close website flyer

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is excited to announce a new initiative, “History, Up Close and in Conversation,” designed to enrich visitor experiences and deepen their connection to the museum’s extensive collections. The program provides a unique opportunity to connect with Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum professionals and delve into our collections. This innovative series offers an interactive platform for visitors to explore history through informal, hands-on presentations.

This initiative illuminates the efforts of museum and archival teams, providing insight about documents and artifacts in our galleries and holdings. The series features four distinct offerings: Archive Interpreters, Museum Interpreters, Permanent Gallery Guides, and an A250 Gallery Guide.

Program Highlights:

Archival Spotlight: Visitors will gain insights into the library’s archival operations, such as scheduling research appointments, digitization initiatives, and the historic importance of documents from the archive, including mentions in popular culture.

Artifact Spotlight: Guests will explore additional research and historical context not found on exhibit labels, stories behind artifact selection, and related photographs that enrich exhibit storytelling.

Expected Outcomes: The "History, Up Close and in Conversation" program aims to increase visitor interest and engagement, and enhance understanding of the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum's mission by providing an innovative way for our patrons to connect with NARA holdings.

Join us in the gallery for an informal conversation with a library professional. See remarkable artifacts, understand how the archives work, and learn how we keep history safe for the future. Bring your questions and explore at your own pace.

Gallery talks are included in your admission.
