About the Gifts
Presidential gifts are divided into two categories: Head of State gifts and Domestic gifts.
A Head of State gift is any object exchanged between the President and a foreign governmental official. Domestic gifts refer to objects sent to the President by Americans and people around the world.
This exhibit displays a variety of Nixon Head of State gifts. Head of State gifts are given as a symbol of diplomacy and friendship. They are often exchanged during an official visit. President Nixon received approximately 10,000 Head of State gifts during his Presidency.
