Future Renovation For Kids

New Materials Release

On November 30, 2015, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum opened additional Nixon Presidential Materials in response to researcher requests.

Subject Files on White House Staff

The White House Central Files Unit is a permanent organization within the White House complex that maintains a central filing and retrieval system for the records of the President and his staff. Through this opening we are making the subject file categories related to the White House Office and staff available. These categories comprise approximately 66,000 pages.

Declassified Documents

Approximately 580 pages were processed under mandatory declassification review for this opening. Among them are documents relating to the bombing operation in Southeast Asia; President Nixon's January 23, 1972, speech on Vietnam; Soviet missile testing; and U.S. relations with Israel.

Additionally, documents related to Bolivia were systematically processed from the Latin America Country Files. Approximately 675 pages are being released.

New Scans Available

On October 28, 2015, the Library posted scans from the Nixon Presidential Returned Materials Collection: White House Special Files (WHSF): Contested Files. This 55-box collection consists of documents defined by the President Materials Review Board as private/personal and private/political. These materials were returned to the estate of Richard Nixon in 1996.

In July 2007, the Richard Nixon Foundation deeded these materials to the National Archives and Records Administration. They have been available for research use in in the Yorba Linda research room since this time.
