Organization Information

The National Advisory Council on the Education of Disadvantaged Children was established April 11, 1965 by P.L. 89-10, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. It also made recommendations for improvement of programs funded under the Act.

The Council consists of 15 members who were appointed by the President by virtue of their knowledge of experience in the field. Administrative support for the Council was provided by the Department of Education.
