Scope and Content Note
This subject category contains material relating to the administration of the Indian Claims Commission. The Commission was established by an act of August 31, 1946 (60 Stat. 1049; 25 U.S.C. 70), to hear and determine claims against the United States on behalf of any Indian tribe, band or other identifiable group of American Indians residing within the United States. McKeldin as Commissioners, and the appointment of Commissioner Jerome Kuykendall as the Indian Claims Commission Chairman.
