These conversations, released on February 28, 2002, comprise the second of two Cabinet Room releases.
This release consists of declassified segments previously withheld from the first Cabinet Room release.
The Cabinet Room tapes were originally reviewed for declassification under the provisions of Executive Order 12356.
With the enactment of Executive Order 12958 (on declassification), the
Nixon Staff re-reviewed 79 hours of classified segments and determined that an
additional 69 hours could be released to the public.
About the Tapes
The declassified conversation segments do not have transcripts or subject logs.
The Cabinet Room reference cassettes were not re-recorded to include the newly released segments.
Researchers can identify declassified segments in the Tape Subject Log for the first release
and use the cross reference information provided in the log to locate declassified segments.
